Rx Cycle Fill

The cycle filling program is used to fill maintenance medications for selected groups of patients at one time, without having to manually enter each Rx number. This program can be used in traditional vial dispensing or bingo card distribution systems, as well as in unit dose systems (subject to either pre-billing of a month's supply of medication or post-billing of actual doses consumed).

Cycle filling is typically used only for maintenance (routine) medications. However, if you post-bill actual doses consumed, all unit dose medications can be included in the cycle fill process.

There are three options in cycle fill: Fill Rx's, Set Days Supply and Update Quantity Consumed.

A prescription must be identified as a cycle fill prescription. Type an identifying entry in the fourth position of the Frequency Code filed of the new Rx Entry screen, or in the CF field of the Prescription Record.

Valid entries:

Group code of the nursing home. This is applicable if the group codes are one character in length. If the nursing home group code is two characters in length, type the first character only. Number of labels to print, if printing multiple labels for bingo card systems. User-defined character that identifies this as a cycle fill medication (e.g., M for monthly, or D for daily).
