Update Quantity Consumed

The Updating of Quantity Consumed option is used in conjunction with post-billing unit dose medication (billing for the actual number of doses consumed by the patient at the end of the billing cycle).

Follow the procedures below to enter new medication orders to be post billed:

  1. For each prescription, type the estimated quantity that will be used through the last day of the current month.
  2. Type accurate refill information.
  3. Record the order by using the X (Rx Update = Add To Profile) function.
  4. At the end of the month, calculate totals on the filling profile (used during the month to note numbers of doses issued and returned).
  5. Type the total of doses administered on each patient's prescription.


Follow the steps below to use the Update Quantity Consumed option.

  1. Access PrimeCare.
  2. Click Facility Management, Rx Cycle Fill, Update Quantity Consumed.
  3. Complete the Select Options; click Next.
  4. Complete the Sort Options; click Next.
  5. Complete the Print Options; click Finish.

Use the following definitions to complete the Print Options:

Update Days Supply - Type YES to recalculate the Days Supply on each prescription based on the dosage units being dispensed.

Prescription information displays on the Update Quantity Consumed screen. Dispensed Qtys may be edited and prescriptions may be deactivated as needed.
