Rx Cycle Fill Overview

The Rx Cycle Fill program is used to fill maintenance medications for selected groups of patients without having to manually enter each prescription number. This program may be used in traditional vial dispensing or bingo card distribution systems, as well as unit dose systems (subject to either pre-billing of a month's supply of medication or post billing of actual doses consumed).

Cycle filling is typically used only for maintenance medications. However, if post billing actual doses consumed, all unit dose medications may be included in the cycle fill process.

A prescription must be identified as a Cycle Fill prescription. Type an identifying entry in the Cycle Fill field on the initial Prescription Record. Valid entries are:

• Facility Group Code: This is only applicable if the Group Code is one character in length. If the Group Code is two-characters, type only the first character.

• Number of labels to print if printing multiple labels for bingo card systems.

• User-defined character that identifies this as a Cycle Fill medication (M for monthly or D for daily).
  

In order for Cycle Fill to work properly, a Cycle Fill Edit Price Plan must be created. Create a retail price plan and set error messages to be checked during the Cycle Fill process.
