File Compression Tips
File Compressions remove records that are flagged
for deletion (# sign in the Status column of the designated
scan). You must be signed on as the console user to compress files. The
following exceptions apply:
- Drug - For Drug Records that have
ever been associated with a prescription, the system changes the status
of the drug from flagged for deletion to inactive.
- Prescription - Discontinued prescription
records: In order to remove these prescriptions, a purge of the Prescription
Record File is required. A date must be entered to begin the purge;
all records in the Prescription File prior to the date entered are
removed. Those prescriptions are no longer accessible after the purge
is complete.
- Workflow - Workflow Records must
be marked Complete in order for the system to compress them.
Deleted items are removed from the following files when the Patient
(Customer) or Customer Demographics files are compressed:
- Deactivated Notes
- Non-Drug Orders
- Insurance Records
- Patient Outcome
- Rx Miscellaneous
- Patient Clinical Data
The following files allow a date to be used without requiring a purge
first:
- AR History
- Prescription Transaction
All records prior to the date entered are removed.
Note: ALWAYS back up any file
prior to purging and/or compressing.
