Insurance coverage for patients change over time and frequently occur when significant life events happen, such as going into a nursing home facility for constant care. However, often times the change in patient coverage is not known immediately and takes time in order to be processed by all affected parties. When this occurs, transactions that have been billed require reversing and re-billing in order to have the proper parties billed. The Billing Matrix retroactive billing function addresses this situation.
Functionality
The retroactive billing function reviews transactions created in the billing date range. Any transactions in the billing date range that have a different coverage during the days supply are:
Credited to A/R if posted to A/R.
Reversed if billed to a third party.
Reevaluated for correct quantities according to the days supply for each coverage.
Re-posted to A/R.
