The electronic signature capture device is used to capture signatures for HIPAA acknowledgements and prescription signature logs, both third party and cash. The device may also be used to record signatures for counseling and to request safety caps. The electronic signature capture device options must be set up in Store Level Options.
To set up signature capture options:
1. From the PrimeCare main menu, click Store Control, Store Level Options.
2. The Store Level Options screen displays:
3. Check each option you would like to display for a patient's signature. Options are:
HIPAA Acknowledgement
Safety Caps/Counseling
Cash Rx Log
Rx Patient Counseling
Counseling Required for New Rx
Third Party Log
Prescription Display Days
4. To set up the third party electronic signature display format, click Store Control, Pricing Options, Electronic Signature Options.
5. The Electronic Signature Options scan displays:
6. Select the format description by pressing
the corresponding function key to view the format screen, or press to enter a new format. The Electronic Signature
Format screen displays:
7. Type a Description for the format and check
the Prescription Display Options. Press CTRL+S
or click .
8. Add the Certification Statements and select
Other Options. Press CTRL+S or
click .
9. A check in the Require Customer Pick-up Info field displays a window for the pharmacist/technician to enter the information for the customer picking up a prescription. This window displays after the HIPAA signature is captured and before the Counseling message displays (if both these options are checked in Store Level Options). This window does not display if capturing the HIPAA signature from the Patient Record. The Pick-up Info options are:
Customer ID
ID Qualifier
Issuing Jurisdiction
Relationship to Patient
To require
a signature for a particular Price Plan, check the Signature Required
field in Price
Plans, Additional Information.
