Here's What's New in NRx:
Updated Drug Expiration on Rx Summary
Implemented changes to ensure expiration dates are more clear on the Rx Summary and to use the system date instead of the written date when recalculating the drug expiration date, if the Recalculate box is checked.
Rx Summary
Added a tooltip, Discard by Date, for Expiration on the Rx Summary. Note: The Expiration date on the Rx Summary is based on the expiration date of the physical drug product being dispensed, typically set to 365 in Store Level Options > Rx Filling > Drug Expiration Date. However, the Drug Record > Expiration Date can override that default so that the physical product dispensed, such as a compound, can be less than 365 days. The facility drug expiration days can also override this default.
WorkFlow
Updated the system to recalculate the Drug Expiration date in Workflow to recalculate based on the system date or fill date instead of written date.
Drug Update Window
Implemented the following changes on the Drug Update window.
Added an Exp Date (this dispense) read-only field to display the current Expiration Date on the prescription.
If the Recalculate Rx Drug Expiration Date option is checked on the Drug Update screen, a Reason read-only field was added to display the reason that determined the Rx Expiration Date and the Exp Date (this dispense) field is updated with the date the Rx Expiration will be updated to once saved. If no update is needed, the same date displays.
The Reason field displays what determined the Rx Expiration Date to be recalculated on the prescription: Drug Expiration Date, Drug Expiration Days, Store Level Drug Expiration Days, Facility Drug Expiration Days.
Price Plan/Rx Summary
Added an Rx Exp or Discard by Date has been Exceeded Price Plan Error Message. Default = Display - YES, Allow Fill - NO. If the Expiration date on the prescription is less than the system date, blank, or set to 00/00/0000, the error message displays in red, preventing the fill if Allow Fill - NO. Added the Price Plan Error Message to Price Plan Batch Updates.
Added the Supervising Physician and NP/PA to Transfer Form
If the doctor on a prescription is an NP/PA, implemented the printing of their name, address, phone, NPI, and DEA on the printed and faxed versions of the Transfer Form to meet state requirements. Previously, only the supervising physician printed.
Note: If Store Level Option, Transfers: 1 Rx Per Page with Fill History is selected and the doctor on the prescription is an NP/PA, the supervising doctor information prints under the Supervising Prescriber Information and the NP/PA information directly below. The NP/PA information in this case includes name, NPI, and DEA due to space constraints.
If multiple prescriptions are being transferred, the form prints each Rx block with the Rx Information, along with the supervising doctor and NP/PA when applicable potentially printing information onto a separate page.
Changed the Doctor Information header to Prescriber Information. If NP/PA information prints, the header reads, Supervising Prescriber Information.
Added the Brand Drug Name to Transfer Form
Added the Brand Drug Name to the Transfer Form in addition to the generic drug if the prescription has both a prescribed drug and a dispensed drug. Previously the receiving pharmacist could only see the dispensed drug.
Added Level One ID/SureScripts Prescriber ID (SPI) Number to Prescriber Scan and Rx Info
Increased accuracy when selecting the correct Prescriber Record with the following:
Added a Level One ID option to the Select Columns box accessed via the Edit Columns link from the Scan Prescribers window. Default = Unchecked.
Added the Level One ID to the Prescriber information on the New Prescription screen for Format 3 electronic and non-electronic prescriptions.
Added Long Compound Name to Compound Drug Record
Added a Long Compound Name field to the Compound Drug Record.
Added logic to label routines 813 and 814 to print the Long Compound Name.
Disabled Shingles Education Options Based on QS/1 Authorization
Implemented the following to assist your pharmacy in a gradual rollout of the RedSail Advantage (RSA) Shingles Education program.
If the RSA Shingles Education QS/1 Authorization is turned off, the Auto-Create MTM Opportunity and Prompt MTM Alert at Checkout checkboxes are grayed out for RedSail Advantage Shingles Education option on the MTM Type Table.
Once the RSA Shingles Education QS/1 Authorization is turned on, the previously mentioned checkboxes are enabled and can be turned on and off as needed.
Corrected NewRxs That Allowed Reprocessing with the Use of Multiple WorkFlow Queues
Corrected an issue when processing a NewRx and selecting a combination of WorkFlow Queues (e.g., New Order Entry, Verify New Orders), the system allowed the NewRx to be processed again from the NewRx Mail Queue and all the electronic information that was entered was deleted.
The system now displays a message indicating that the NewRx has already been processed when an attempt at reprocessing is made.
Added Biosimilar or Interchangeable Relationship Information to Clinical Screen an Generic Scan
Biosimilar/Interchangeable items can have completely different GCNs. All interchangeable drugs are biosimilar, but not all biosimilars are interchangeable. To better assist with groupings, updated the Generic Drug Scan to display all grouped reference/biosimilar/interchangeable products as indicated by First Databank (FDB). Added the following attributes to assist when identifying reference biologic NDCs and their corresponding biosimilar or interchangeable NDCs.
Added Biologic Name Grouper, Interchangeable Ref GCN, and Bio Relationship Type fields to the Drug Record > Clinical > General Clinical screen.
Added a Biosimilar Interchangeable Only option to the Scan Drugs window. Select to limit the scan to only products that are Biosimilar/Interchangeable with the product entered at Order Entry. If selected, a Scan Biosimilar Interchangeable Drugs window displays along with everything the Scan Drugs window displays in addition to Bio Relationship Type. Note: If the item is flagged as a Dispensing Cabinet Medication, the Drug Cabinet List displays first. Once closed, the Biosimilar Drug Scan displays if the item is flagged as such. Similarly, if the item is on a formulary list, the Formulary List displays first. Once closed, the Biosimilar Drug Scan displays if applicable.
Updated the Generic Scan so that if a Drug is entered on a New Prescription, and the double arrow next to Generic is selected, and the system knows the item is a Biologic product, the Biosimilar Interchange Only scan displays automatically and lists the generics as well.
Added an Inactive option to the Scan Drugs window. Default = Unchecked. Select to include inactive products.
As interchangeable drugs will not always have the same GCN, updated Prescription Processing so that if the brand or generic on the prescription is flagged as Biosimilar or Interchangeable, the system does not hard stop for a mismatched GCN.
Implemented Changes for UPS API Shipping to Recognize Interface Table
Implemented changes to the UPS API Shipping interface to recognize interface tables. Example: If a table is set up to skip Delivery Method P (Pickup), any prescription with that Delivery Method would not be pushed to the shipping interface, preventing the shipper from printing a label and the prescription mistakenly being packaged for delivery.

PMP Kansas Ready for ASAP 4.2B, Date Sold
Kansas is ready for ASAP 4.2B and reporting of date sold. Ensure that your format is 4.2B when using store-side reporting.
Implemented 2D Barcode Scanning
The following additions are a part of ongoing efforts to accommodate the DSCSA (Drug Supply Chain Security Act). If using NDC Check during both Label and Dispensing and Quality Assurance, the current recommendation is to scan the 2D barcode at Label and Dispensing so the system gathers the lot, serial, expiration date, and GTIN. Then, scan the linear barcode (NDC) at the NDC check in QA and confirm that the lot number and serial number on the screen previously scanned in Label and Dispensing is correct. As functionality expands, recommendations may adapt. Note: The Honeywell Genesis 7580 scanner is required for use.
Store Level Options
Added a 2D Verification option to Store Level Options > Rx Filling Options.
Prescription Processing
Added a Drug Expired Error Message that displays on the prescription when the Expiration Date on the Drug Record is less than the system date.
Added ability to scan a 2D barcode from the Drug Update window in WorkFlow to populate lot, expiration date, and serial number, along with the ability to scan multiple stock bottles.
Select to use 2D scanning during Label and Dispensing or Quality Assurance WorkFlow steps. The Drug Update screen displays when confirming lot and expiration dates during NDC checks.
Drug Record
Added a Serial Number field to the Drug Record > General Information screen. Added a Serial Number column to the Lot Number/Expiration Date Change History screen via Drug Record > View History link.
Transaction
Added a Serial Number field to the Transaction > General Information screen. If there are multiple serial numbers, a Lot/Serial History link displays beneath the Serial Number. Select to access the new Lot/Serial History screen. View all the serial and lot numbers that were scanned for that dispense.
Added a Stock Expiration field under the Filling Information section on the Transaction > General Information screen. This is the expiration date of the drug product.
Updated the A55 Form to Suppress the Medicare/Medicaid Numbers
Added the following Alt Footer option to suppress the Medicare/Medicaid numbers in the footer on both enhanced and non-enhanced versions of the A55 form when necessary.
Added Y2 as an option for the Alt Footer Print Option. Enter Y2 to suppress the printing of the Medicare/Medicaid number.
