There are five options for adding SIG Codes when filling new prescriptions. In the first four options, the SIG Codes are entered in Step 2 of the New Prescription process. In the last option, Multiple SIGs, the SIGs are entered from the Rx Summary screen of the new prescription.
Option 1. Type Free Text
When filling a new prescription, manually type the SIG in Step 2:

There are SIG Codes set up in the system. If you know the codes, type the codes in the SIG field:
Press ENTER and the SIG displays:
Option 3. Use the SIG Builder
The SIG Builder uses building blocks to create SIGS. Type the building blocks in the SIG field:
Press ENTER and the SIG displays:
Option 4. Type a Combination of Free Text and Codes
Type a combination of free text and SIG Builder Codes; separate the free text and codes with spaces.
Prebuilt SIGs must be used alone. They cannot be combined with Free Text
or SIG Builder Codes.
Option 5. Add Multiple SIG Codes to a Prescription
When filling a new prescription, type the first line of the SIG Code in the SIG field. Complete the prescription and access the Rx Summary screen for the prescription.
From the Summary screen, click
and select Multiple SIG Entry. The SIG screen displays:
Complete the entries for up to five SIGs
and click .
Multiple SIGs entered on this screen only apply to the prescription currently
being filled.
